I am genuinely surprised that I enjoyed this volume so much. I only bought it because there was a sale and had so little hope since it had such a generic plot. Having read it, though, I honestly really enjoyed this and will be continuing with the series. The art style works really well with the setting, both time and place. It has an elegant feel that goes with the Victorian-era style setting. The demon Mephisto did not get as much screen time, but I am content with waiting for his proper debut. What I appreciated most of all was how Anne was handled. Technically, Anne can fall into the "damsel in distress" category because Mephisto is determined to make her his bride and drag her to hell, implying that someone has to keep her safe and rescue her from her cursed fate, but she is far from helpless. She has proven herself capable of fighting off smaller demons and has even tamed some into being her pets/assistants. Yes, she often as to be saved by others, but she is capable of fighting back so it doesn't bother me too much.
While I do love Anne and Haru (as well as their banter), I will admit that it took me awhile to come to terms with the age gap. Haru, the exorcist knight, is 12 while his bride Anne is 17. I would not be surprised if people were turned off by this fact alone, especially since his age was not mentioned in the synopsis. However, given how they behave and banter I do not feel like it is as creepy as some stories dealing with a significant age gap handle it. I want to make it clear that I do not hold it against anyone if they can't consider reading this series because of the age gap, but if you can look past it this is a delightful start to a series. I absolutely LOVED this manga. Is one of the best fantasy mangas I've ever read. I was so immersed in the story and definitely didn't want it to end.

I've come to learn my greatest guilty pleasure, the age gap inverted where she is older than him. This was such a good manga with lots of butterfly to the stomach moments. I just, loved it so much, I still feel deeply for this one, it has a special place in my heart.

I remember I tried reading this a year ago, but I was not getting into the story at all! Today, I picked it up for some reason and I couldn't put it down. While the age gap is a little iffy, I still enjoy the base premise of a girl being stolen away from a demon.

Side note: the art is hilarious and cute!

I love this story and the artwork alot. While the age Gap might be off putting for some, I feel it's handled very well.

It's a fun read that has a great balance of both action and romance. I've already read volume 2 as well and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

This one has an interesting setup.

Edit: The people whining about the age gap are ridiculous. If you don't like the food, no one's forcing you to eat it.

I feel like I've read a manga like this five times already, all of which were better than this.

Not horrible, but very standard, pre-teen level shoujo.

Very cute. This manga is very similar to The World is Still Beautiful. Very similar.

I didn't expect to like this as much as I did, especially knowing about the great age gap between the two protagonists, but the story was really cute and wholesome.
The pacing had some problems but I know making a manga and keeping everything balanced while giving important things their time, all the while keeping track of pages and volumes is certainly no easy thing.
